Brief History

Montgomery joined the Southern League for four seasons (1892–1893, 1895–1896) and also played in the Southern Association from 1903 through 1914 and for single seasons in 1943 and 1956.

Among the club’s notable managers were Lew Whistler (1903), Ed Gremminger (1908–1910), and Johnny Dobbs (1911–1913).

The team also featured several notable players such as Carleton Molesworth (1903–1905), Frank Delahanty (1904), Rube Oldring (1905), Ike Rockenfeld (1908–1909), Norm Elberfeld (1912), and Casey Stengel (1912).

During the remainder of their history Montgomery was represented in the Southeastern League (1926–1930, 1932, 1937–1942, 1946–1950), the Alabama-Florida League (1957–1962), and the Southern League (1965–1980).
